Serine/threonine-protein kinase mTOR is a serine-threonine protein kinase involved in several intracellular signalling pathways that regulate cell functions as wide and diverse as differentiation, to proliferation, repair, ageing and the cell cycle. mTOR receives several intracellular and extracellular inputs and its activation stimulates anabolism (such as of proteins, lipids and organelles) and inhibits catabolism.[1]
