Pregnancy categories are categories for drugs that are designed to provide information about the safety of the use of these drugs during pregnancy. Pregnancy categories assign each drug registered in their respective country of origin letters of the alphabet, more specifically: A, B (or B1, B2, B3 in Australia), C, D and X. Australia and the U.S. both have their own pregnancy categorization systems, but they are almost identical in their meaning and the letters they use, except the Australian system includes, instead of just one B category B1, B2 and B3.
